Emergency management plan
Emergencies can happen at any time, so it’s important to be ready to respond.
Use the template below as a framework for your emergency plan. The plan has a list of accepted responses to identified scenarios, for example fire, earthquake, tsunami.
Tailor the plan to suit your specific needs. Record site specific information in the yellow highlighted sections. Nominate a staff member to keep the plan information current and tested periodically.
Make sure all staff are familiar with the plan. Communicate key elements to students, parents and caregivers. Use the plan when practising emergency responses, such as evacuation drills.
If you would like any help with your emergency planning, please contact the Ministry of Education’s Emergency Management Team by emailing emt@minedu.govt.nz.
