CERA land information announcements
The Government has announced areas of Canterbury that are unlikely to be rebuilt for a considerable time. It has also announced areas where decisions are yet to be made on rebuilding and areas where rebuilding can occur.
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) has provided a website for residents www.landcheck.org.nz where people can enter residential addresses and find out how their properties are affected.
Implications for schools and early childhood education services
The Government’s decisions will have implications for many schools in Canterbury. It is too early to say what will happen to individual schools or services. But we do know that changes will occur.
The Ministry will meet with affected schools and early childhood services to start developing plans. We will also discuss what support services may be needed. Efforts will be made to minimise disruption to families and children’s learning, and to support teachers and support staff during the transition phase.
