Ultra-fast Broadband in Schools
With technology increasingly key to education delivery, the Government has prioritised schools in its Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB) and Rural Broadband Initiatives (RBI), under which fibre is being rolled out across New Zealand.
97.7 percent of schools and 99.9 percent of students will receive ultra-fast broadband capability by 30 June 2015. The remainder in areas too remote for fibre to receive an improved broadband service via satellite or alternative technology.
As part of this commitment all state and state-integrated schools will receive a fully-funded connection to the fibre being rolled out in their area.
