Education (Freedom of Association) Amendment Act 2011
Change to students’ association membership
The Education Act 1989 has been amended to remove any requirement for a student to join a students’ association. This change has been made through the Education (Freedom of Association) Amendment Act 2011.
Voluntary student membership of students’ associations will come into effect for students enrolling at tertiary education providers on or after 1 January 2012.
