Section 9 Agreement and Discontinuation Forms
A Section 9 Agreement is an agreement between a parent or guardian and the Secretary for Education. It allows a child or young person to enrol at a special education facility or to continue to be enrolled at a primary, intermediate or secondary school beyond the legal age.

Students in the following categories are required to have Section 9 Agreements:
(1) All students who wish to be enrolled in a special school or have a regional health school as their base school.
(2) Students under 5 years or over 14 years of age whose exceptional needs mean a primary or special school is their most appropriate education setting.
(3) Students between the ages of 19 and the end of the school year in which they turn 21, whose exceptional needs mean a secondary school is their most appropriate education setting.
