Special Education study awards and scholarships

Each year the Ministry of Education allocates a number of special education study awards and scholarships. The aim of the special education study awards and scholarships is to ensure the supply of specialist teachers in the workforce to provide quality service to children with special education needs.

The study awards and scholarships provide support to enable teachers and other service providers to train in a number of specialist areas including:

  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Complex educational needs
  • Early intervention
  • Hearing impairment
  • Vision Impairment
  • Resource Teachers: Learning & Behaviour
  • Educational psychology
  • Sign language interpreters
  • Sign language tutors
  • Speech language therapy scholarships.
