Thinking Template and Smart Charter - Download

The Thinking Template and SmartCharter are two tools to help schools implement support and new planning and reporting processes.  You may find it useful to print this page. These materials were sent to all schools on CD in September 2003.

The Thinking Template and Smart Charter were developed to assist Boards in the development of their charters. It requires that Boards think deeply about their school in order that they may develop their charter. This tool was used in the early days of School Planning and Reporting and is still useful. Please contact ministry local offices staff for further assistance.

1. Getting Started Windows PC

1.1.2 Use Windows Explorer to move or copy the file SmartCharterTemplatePC into the directory called 'Templates' which you will find inside the directory 'Microsoft Office'. The full pathname is c:\windows\program files\microsoft office\templates.

1.2. Starting the Thinking Template

To start the thinking template double click on the file named LaunchThinkingTemplate.html and then click on the logo to continue.
The first page of the Thinking Template contains detailed instructions for its use. To use SmartCharter, follow the instructions that you will first encounter on the page "Establishing Vision and Values" of the Thinking Template.

For future convenience, you may wish to create shortcut of LaunchThinkingTemplate.html and place it on your desktop. To create a shortcut right-click the file and select `Create Shortcut'. Drag the alias to the desktop.
