Mark Brown, Principal Victory School, Nelson
Every Child Matters
8 April 2008
Highlights of this presentation included the transformation at Victory School. Mark described the school as being decile 3 with a rich diversity of cultures (approximately 40% Maori students).
Victory School used to have bullying reported by students and teachers, truancy and some stand downs. Staff were working hard, but not making a difference. Underachievement was high, especially for Maori students.
Mark contrasted this with how Victory School is now:
It is totally transformed. Everything now is positive, no exceptions!
