Consultation
There are two main consultation stages:
Round One (February-April 2009) "What do we want?"
- A meeting with the Professionals Group to bring all of the local education providers together to meet with each other and the Working Group, answer questions about the process, hear from each provider about relevant issues, and commence discussion about a desired state of education provision. This meeting was held on 16th February.
- A public meeting with a high profile speaker to attract attention, held in Pahiatua. This meeting was held on March 12th with lost at sea survivor Rob Hewitt as the guest speaker.
See Events and Meetings for a report of Rob’s talk
- A series of facilitated community meetings in the three main towns, and direct contact with the runanga, local council, and other interested non-school based community groups.
See Events and Meetings for dates and venues of the town meetings
- Working Group members will lead smaller, less formal sector interest group meetings.
- A response sheet will be distributed and collected. A copy of the response sheet is available to download below.
All these meetings will inform the community of the ‘drivers’ for the project, explain the process, and gather information/ feedback/ input from each community on the desired state of education provision.

Round Two (July - August 2009) "How about this?"
The Working Group's interim proposals will be discussed with the community in two phases: information sharing, then feedback.
- The information-sharing phase will involve using a range of approaches to ensure that the wider community is aware of proposals. This range is likely to include newsletter inserts, community paper articles, sector group meetings, this website and community meetings in the three main towns.
- The feedback stage will involve gathering feedback and submissions on the report. Feedback could be received through a community response form, forum and sector group meetings, or via submission.
Working group members and the facilitators are also available for meetings/feedback throughout the process.
Response sheet – Stage One (Completed)
During Stage One, the Working Group asked for feedback on what was working well, what problems needed to be considered, and what people would hope to see as the end result of any plan.
Response sheet – Stage Two (Current)
At this stage the Working Group is seeking feedback from the community on its interim proposals. These are detailed in the Report for Consultation. More information and the report can be found on the Interim Report.
