High quality data infrastructure upgrades are a ministry focus and to encourage this we publish infrastructure standards documents, maintain the preferred supplier and installer lists on the ministry’s website, and provide advice to schools through our network.upgrades@minedu.govt.nz [no spam] email address.

Schools upgrading their data infrastructure can undertake this work as part of their usual property process. As noted in Section 6.10.1 of the Property handbook (PDF v1.6, 2.80MB), schools are required to follow the network infrastructure standards established by the ministry.

The ministry provides schools with lists of recommended switch suppliers, cabling suppliers and recommended installers who are able to provide manufacturer warranties on their work.
