Software for schools

The Ministry of Education provides schools with computer operating systems, office suites, anti-virus and web filtering software.

Anti-virus software

The Ministry has selected a new anti-virus provider, Symantec.

Microsoft software

The Ministry of Education has signed a new agreement with Microsoft to continue commitment to the Microsoft New Zealand School Agreement from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2012.

Novell software

The Ministry of Education has renewed an agreement to provide Novell software to New Zealand schools. The agreement is for a three year term and expires in April 2013.

Apple software

Applicable to all state and state-integrated schools using Macintosh systems.

The Ministry of Education has renewed its agreement to provide maintenance for Mac OSX operating system and related software to registered state and state-integrated schools. The provision of the software is through Renaissance in Auckland.
