Overview of ICT programmes for schools

A short introduction to the programmes and projects initiated or supported under the ICT strategy for schools.

Administration and Support Systems

e-Admin

Administration and Support Systems

The e-Admin Programme was established to look at ways of supporting and enhancing administration systems to enable schools and early childhood centres to spend more time on learning by ensuring IT projects deliver the required business benefits.

Further information can be found on the e-Admin page.

Student Management Systems (SMS)

Administration and Support Systems

The SMS project encourages schools to move to accredited SMS systems and provides information and resources to enable this. The project is also implementing various initiatives aimed at improving data sharing and supporting teachers and administrators. The project vision is to support better student information management to deliver improved education outcomes in every school by 2008.

Further information can be found on our Student Management Systems pages.

SEDEX

Administration and Support Systems

SEDEX stands for the Student Enrolment and Data Exchange Project of which there are two main focuses. The first is to provide infrastructure to the sector so that data is collected once and then shared with internal and external stakeholders, providing a "single version of the truth", from the data collected.

An example of such work is the Schools Integrated Data (SID) project, which is providing data storage, delivery tools such as reporting, metadata tools, as well as working with the SMS project to bring about electronic data collection and validation from provider management systems.

The second focus SEDEX has is the creation of specific applications to collect data from schools, one being ENROL, which will aid in getting a comprehensive snapshot of where students are at any one time and the movement of students between schools.
