ICT Professional Development Collaboration Programme
ICT PD Programme 2010-2012 Overview
The Ministry of Education invites proposals from schools for funding to support three year professional development (PD) programmes related to ICT. These will be focused on developing the capability of participating schools so they can take advantage of current and future ICT developments, particularly the proposed roll-out of ultra-fast broadband and upgrades to school networks.
Selected schools will decide on the focus and design of their ICT PD programme with the support of a National Support Services Facilitator (NSSF). Their programmes will reflect and support government educational priorities such as Foundation skills (literacy and numeracy), delivering success for Māori (as expressed in Ka Hikitia - Managing for Success) and the Pasifika Education Plan.
Funding levels
Schools may apply for up to $120,000 (including GST) for each of the three years from 2010 - 2012 to support their professional development programmes. This funding level can effectively support approximately 100-120 staff for the length of the contract.
The value of the contract for successful applicants that fall outside the staffing range (given above) may vary from $120,000 (including GST). A final decision on the value of the contract is made by the Ministry after the selection process has concluded.
Schools will contribute an additional 20% (minimum) to the funding provided by the Ministry for their ICT PD programme. This can be in the form of funding from their professional development budget and/or through the provision of staffing.
Funding for the ICT PD programme is provided for professional development activities only and not the provision of hardware/software for schools.
