CPaBL: student outcomes (leading to smoother transition to further education, training and employment)

Competencies

a) Developing self-awareness

Demonstrate awareness of changing influences, interests, strengths, values and identity development.

Can identify significant factors and links that influence identity in all aspects of their lives; and

Ongoing student plan (in preferred medium/form, e.g. Learning & Career Plan)

  • Ongoing plan or equivalent shows evidence of this

b) Becoming aware of opportunities

Explore aspects of identities, making links between life and learning.

Participation in appropriate experiences, such as part-time work, careers events, STAR, Gateway, and leisure activities

  • Relevant standards achieved

 

Demonstrate skills in locating and interpreting information about pathways.

Use of careers information and materials (e.g. Career Services website)

 

c) Making decisions and planning

Making appropriate subject choices (to pursue interests but keep options open)

Student plans identify subject choices required to pursue interests (ongoing)

  • Ongoing plan or equivalent
  • Reporting to parents (school reports)
  • Relevant standards achieved

 

Learning how to develop plans and set goals

Identify and document skills in student plan

 

 

Understanding the need to be flexible and revisit choices

Reassess goals as interests and opportunities change (by refining and updating plan).

 

 

Exploring work, training, and study opportunities

Participation in appropriate experiences such as part-time work, careers events, STAR, Gateway, and leisure activities

 

d) Taking action

Gathering and maintaining relevant CV information

Student independently accesses information from web and improves quality of CV

Acquiring relevant communication and interview skills required to apply for further study, training, work

Student's interviewing skills improve.
