Values in the New Zealand Curriculum

This report reviews the literature on values in the New Zealand curriculum. It examines recent research literature in national curriculum policy and practice and examines current and developing school practices. The report describes the process of the review and outlines the key findings.

Introduction

The Ministry of Education contracted the University of Waikato to develop a literature review on values in the curriculum. This review is part of a series of work around Values in the Curriculum, for the curriculum marautanga project, as recommended in the Curriculum Stocktake Report (2002). It will inform the future direction in the New Zealand curriculum around values.

  7. Recommendations on what a statement for values in the New Zealand curriculum should consist of.
