Assessment Tools for Teaching and Learning (asTTle) 2
More about a New Zealand-developed assessment tool which helps teachers uncover strengths and gaps in student learning.
Assessment Tools for Teaching and Learning (asTTle)
asTTle (Assessment Tools for Teaching and Learning) is a world-leading assessment tool developed especially for the Ministry of Education. It tests reading, writing and mathematics skills and is available in both English and Te Reo Māori from curriculum levels 2 to 5 (years 5 to 10).
asTTle is valued by teachers because it provides rich interpretation of student performance, and gives teachers choice and control over both tests and results. The information gained from results allows teachers to identify individual and group strengths and weaknesses, gauge progress, monitor patterns and trends, and to compare these with national standards.
The tool comes as a CD-ROM, which is free to all schools. Teachers and schools select test content and difficulty in line with their teaching programmes. asTTle quickly analyses student performance, producing easy-to-understand colour graphs. The asTTle programme links teachers to an indexed online catalogue of classroom resources, allowing them to effectively plan subsequent learning steps.
asTTle was developed for the Ministry of Education by the University of Auckland. See www.asttle.org.nz for more information.
