Most teachers employed by one of the 33 Kindergarten Associations will be covered by:
- the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers’ Collective Agreement (KTCA), or
- the Individual Employment Agreement (IEA), with terms and conditions similar to the KTCA.
You are covered by the Kindergarten Teachers, Head Teachers and Senior Teachers’ Collective Agreement if your work is covered by this agreement, and you’re a member of the kindergarten teachers’ union, the New Zealand Educational Institute – NZEI Te Riu Roa (NZEI).
You need to sign an individual employment agreement (IEA) if your work is covered by this agreement but you are not a member of the NZEI. Your IEA will be Ministry promulgated, which means the Ministry of Education develops and approves the IEA. The terms and conditions of your work are similar to the collective agreement.
To confirm your work is covered by this agreement you can read the full coverage text from the Kindergarten Teachers’ Collective Agreement, Part 1, 1.3
