Better Relationships for Better Learning

Guidelines for boards of trustees and schools on engaging with Māori parents, whānau and communities

Appendix 2: Acknowledgments

Thanks to the consultants

The Ministry wishes to acknowledge the contributions of the consultants, Dr Bev James and her associate Mr Kim Workman, who developed these guidelines. They met with a wide range of people and drew common threads from the discussions. Taking into account material already available from various sources, they distilled some of the essential elements from these discussions and produced the early drafts of this document. Bev and Kim brought to the project a personal awareness of Māori social and educational concerns and aspirations that enabled them to create a document that the Ministry believes will be very useful to schools. Thank you both for your contributions.
