About internationalisation in New Zealand schools
Information about the examples of New Zealand schools connecting with the world and how to give us feedback about what your school is doing.
Ensuring that New Zealand students are prepared to be internationally knowledgeable is a key aspect of The New Zealand Curriculum and of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa.
Students must have the values and key competencies that they will need to contribute to and assume a place in the global community.
Here we show examples of the activities at some New Zealand schools which have internationalised the learning experience of their students.
We hope that these examples will inspire other schools in New Zealand to either initiate their own internationalisation activities or share their experiences with others.
What’s your school doing?
We are keen to hear from your school, whether you have initiated international activities or not.
We are interested in learning about the range of approaches New Zealand schools are taking in internationalising their students’ learning. This could be by welcoming international students, or perhaps by a change your school has made in its curriculum, or even by connecting your students with students overseas.
Please take a moment to email us at international.division@minedu.govt.nz [no spam] and let us know:
- What internationalisation activities are underway at your school, which are either similar or different to the ones featured here, and what the learning outcomes are for your students
- What internationalisation activities your school would like to run, if current circumstances were different
- What barriers to engaging in internationalisation, if any, your school is experiencing.
