Second Stage of the Early Childhood Education Strategic Plan

Introduction to the second stage of the development of the Early Childhood Education Strategic Plan.

Second Stage of the development of the Strategic Plan for Early Childhood Education

The development of the Strategic Plan for Early Childhood Education has entered into a second stage.

The strategic plan for early childhood education working group, chaired by Dr Anne Meade, submitted a significant piece of "blue skies" thinking to the Minister of Education in June.

The Minister of Education has now established a small technical planning group to take the working group's report and develop a staged strategic plan for early childhood education. Dr Meade is the spokesperson for this group. Along with Dr Meade, seven members of the working group will work alongside government officials and an independent facilitator on the technical planning group.

The strategic plan for early childhood education working group and the rest of the early childhood education sector will continue to be consulted on the development of the strategic plan for early childhood education. The technical planning group will be putting out a document for consultation in August 2001.

A final report will be submitted to the Minister of Education by the end of September for his consideration as the basis of a strategic plan for early childhood education
