Sending your charter to the Ministry
The Ministry’s preference is to receive charters electronically. However, you can send a hard copy of your charter to your local office.
Before sending your charter to the Ministry, please use the checklist to ensure your board has included all of the required sections.
Email your charter to your local Ministry office:
When sending your charter electronically to the Ministry, it is important to remember the following.
- Photos and graphics such as logos increase the size of your file. Minimise the size of your file by using JPEGs or similar compressed file types for graphics, and/or lower the resolution of graphics and photos before inserting them, and/or remove optional graphics from the document. You can compress the document size further by creating a PDF version.
- If you prepare your charter as separate files (for example separate mission, strategic section, and annual plan) you should combine these into one file before sending. This means the document is stored on your computer system, ready to go should you wish to load it on your website, or provide it to a member of your community. This helps the Ministry to read the charter in the order you intend it to be read. Please attach one document to the email described below. (We accept some schools may need to send more than one document eg, a Word document and an Excel file).
- The Ministry works in a Microsoft environment. If you are using Appleworks, please save files as MSWord, or rich text format (rtf) using the "save as" function. You can also send your document as a PDF. The Ministry can easily read this and other Microsoft publishing formats ).
Your local office will send you an acknowledgement that your charter has is received. For further assistance contact your local Ministry of Education office.
