School Charters - incorporating National Standards

School Charters – Incorporating National Standards has been developed to help English-medium schools with students in years 1–8 incorporate National Standards in school charters. School charters need to include targets set against the standards to provide a basis for boards to report annually on progress and achievement in relation to the standards.

This resource provides suggestions and examples about how boards can:

  • develop the strategic and annual planning sections of charters
  • use student achievement and progress information (including information in relation to National Standards) to design targeted teaching programmes.

School Charters – Incorporating National Standards builds on existing planning and reporting information. It also complements other information that schools have received from the Ministry about the importance of the curriculum and National Standards in charters.
