Accessing data about your school

SchoolSMART gives principals, boards of trustee chairpersons and other authorised trustees access to information about their school. Schools can track their progress over time in relation to other similar schools.

How can SchoolSMART reports make a difference to governance?

  • Schools can use SchoolSMART reports as a basis for planning and decision-making.
  • Schools can access performance information which is specific to their school over time in a format that is easy to use and understand.
  • Schools can make comparisons with aggregated data from similar schools.
  • Reports can be printed off and shared with board members, staff and the community.
  • New members of the school management team can quickly get up to speed with the school's position over time and how it compares with similar schools.

All principals and chairpersons are automatically entitled to access SchoolSMART for their school's information. To obtain a free user account please contact the e-admin contact centre on 04 463 8383 or email e.admin@minedu.govt.nz [no spam].

The board chair can give others at your school access to SchoolSMART by filling out a user set-up form. Please contact the e-admin contact centre for more information.

You can access statistical data, quantitative information and research about the education sector from the Ministry's Education Counts website.
